River Thames
The River Thames is 215 miles long and starts in the Cotswould hills and runs out in to the north sea at South End but only tidal for around 70 miles, the tide flows in from the sea and up the river as far as Teddington in Middlesex the word teddington is a corruption of the words tide-ending-town. There are two tides each day around 5 hours flood tide and 7 hours ebb tide and the rise and fall is between 5.5 and 7.5 meters and the Thames is reputed to be one of the cleanest rivers in europe.
